Research

The Cementitious & Bituminous Materials group has a diverse background and research interests. Specific areas of research emphasis include:

  • Behavior and Design of Reinforced and Prestressed Concrete and Masonry Structures
  • Computational geomechanics, microstructure characterization of materials, transport in porous media
  • Highway materials: mechanical properties of asphalt binders and mixtures, pavement performance modeling, advanced characterization of materials
  • Sustainability of Cementitious Materials: Pervious concrete, carbon absorption in concrete, environmental management of concrete, use of recycled materials, ceramic cements
